Why Knowing Your Customers Can Make All The Difference

By: Janice Jenkins
Category: Site Promotion

Most expert marketers and business owners would tell you that in order to be successful in your marketing campaign, be it posters or postcards or even flyers, the very first thing you should do is to define your target market.

You’re probably thinking, why choose a target market? Why not focus on everyone so that you’ll have a better chance of catching people who’ll be interested in what you offer? Why limit yourself to a group? Everyone can benefit from your product or service anyway so why exclude anyone?

I know it’s very tempting indeed to widen your reach especially when you think that you’re just wasting your money if somebody won’t be able to know your offer just because you exclude that market. But being a jack-of-all-trades to so many people can be a liability rather than a plus. Choosing a target market helps you to narrow down your attention, making it easier for you to provide a more customized poster printing ad or full color postcards that are tailor made to your prospective clients’ needs.

For starters, you’ll likely to have more savings because you’d have spent your dollars wisely on a marketing campaign that really works to your advantage.

You have to remember that advertising means having to run your campaign not just one or two times. You need to run it at least 6 to 7 times before your message can sink in with your target customers. If you don’t narrow down your target base, imagine having to scour places and locations where you can put your ad so that enough people can see it 7 times! And I’m not even going to talk about the amount of people who would actually be willing to try your products and services. Whew! That’s a lot of dollars that you’re going to spend, and you don’t even have an exact location where to place your ads.

With a defined target group, you can pinpoint the places they usually go to, or the publications they are likely to read, and so you can put your ad there for more exposure to the people that would actually buy from you.

Second, if you identify a target market, you’ll be able to identify a more focused benefit or offer that can solve a particular issue or concern of your prospects.

Don’t go egotistical on me now. You know that your customers don’t give a hoot about you. Their only concern is how your product or service will benefit them. What’s in it for me? That’s the ultimate question that your target audience would like to know. With a targeted market, you can establish a more personal content that would cater to the needs and wants of your potential clients.

Lastly, getting to know more of your target clients can help you provide a better offer that would benefit both you and your customers.

So don’t be afraid to limit your market. Rather than losing profits, identifying your target market can help you gain your prospects’ trust which can give you the opportunity to grow your business.

How Cross Promotion Can Help Your Business

By: Janice Jenkins
Category: Site Promotion

Nowadays, it’s very common to see two or more groups helping each other to reach their goals more effectively and efficiently. In fact, cross promotions has become so popular that many businesses have gained so much from it.

So what is cross promotions? It’s the joint effort of two or more businesses working together to reach out to their target market with a “memorable, efficient, effective and credible” marketing campaign that would leave all the members profiting from the alliance. Often, these groups have common interests, values and target markets.

Small businesses often use cross promotions to provide themselves with better promotional campaigns so that they can reach out to as many target clients that they would probably have left out if they’re doing it alone. In addition, cross promotions also give these companies the opportunity to compete with the bigger players.

What are the benefits of cross promoting?

For one thing, you have the chance to reach out to your target clients in less time and money mainly because you are able to provide a more effective and efficient marketing campaign, such as in your advertising postcards, which otherwise would have been hard to implement if you were doing it on your own.

We know for a fact that creating a marketing campaign is expensive and costly. Small businesses especially would find it difficult to run an ad just because they would have very limited budget to work on. With cross promotions, each of the members would have better chances of having the kind of advertising method that are used by those who have the money for it.

Moreover, money would be saved because you also share your expenses and resources with your partners. Costly expenses such as hiring a professional and excellent postcard printing company for example would be affordable now that you have a partner to help you pay for it.

Third, cross promotions help you to stand out. Why? Because you can provide an ad that is focused on your target market’s special needs, values, lifestyle, and such other wants and desires. This way, you are able to give your target clients an offer that is more credible, valuable and attractive. Hence, you would be able to stand out and they would have a hard time resisting you.

Fourth, cross promotions can help you reach out to more people than you can ever imagine. Basically because by working with your partners, you are able to connect with their own customer base that may not be your customers yet.

Cross promotions is indeed beneficial for you and your partners. Having associates to work with you in promoting your business can help a great deal in generating customers which will eventually lead to an increase in your sales and profits.

How To Attain Free Traffic For Your Website

By: Guido Nussbaum
Category: Traffic Generation

Free traffic is the lifeblood of an internet business. There are several ways of achieving this, and we will have a look at some of these in this article.

The use of a free ebook is a prominent tool in availing traffic to the website. Such ebooks will help in building a massive mailing list for an active downline. A proper knowledge of the HTML and a flair for web designing is indispensable for a better understanding of the ebook.

Safe lists are another way of generating continuous traffic to the proposed site, but there are instances in which the customers delete the messages. Credit based safelists can make sure that messages are read to be hits to the website.

Such credits can create a number of users. Members can earn credit by purchasing or by reading emails from other members. A contact email and a list email is to be provided while signing on a credit safe list. The list email address will be receiving many messages with marketer friendly email accounts. Automating the safe list will save a lot of time.

Install a program that has a free sign up option with short snappy headlines. Rather than going for the sale right away it would be better to use a lead capture page. An offer for free signup and a routine follow-up could be much easier. Improving ad copies into a newer form is a better way to promote the ads.

Manual traffic exchange is another good opportunity to generate free traffic for a website. Traffic exchanges give new views on website promotion. Both free and paid traffic exchanges should be considered on selecting a manual traffic exchange. Paid ones will promote better results than the free ones, as they tend to have more serious users. Creatively simple pages are easy for personal viewing or else might result in complexity due to varying computer programs. Spending a bit money towards the end will end up in more page reviews.

Another way of paving the way for increased traffic is article submission. Submit the articles in a systematic fashion. A directory and submission service will help in promoting the articles. A software will do wonders in article submission by engendering fresh traffic to the website.

Forum marketing is a virtual meeting place for people from different strands of life. They are typically websites for posting information and inquiries on a particular topic. Business information can be extended to the audience who are interested in the site. Seeking the potential interested groups is not needed, simply directing the audience will thus boost the sales pitch.

Though social network marketing is apt for generating traffic, the method must be carefully chosen. The network must in some way be related to the business and the originators personal interests. The profile must be constantly updated for a better identity. Referrers must be considered for relationship with others. Enormous connections represent a strong reliable and wide network. Encourage expertise by providing solutions to the visitors. Sharing skills and leaving messages will build good relationships in the long run.

Therefore, free traffic saves a lot of money by making the business more profitable. Writing articles, and using traffic exchanges can be used thoroughly even if takes quite a time. Combining all the various quoted features will really benefit the websites business.

How To Publish Your Way To Success

By: Arvinder Jeet Singh
Category: Ebooks

Did you know, self-publishing is one of the easiest ways to make money on the web. Of course, it requires talent, but it’s easier to learn than you might think.

Getting Started:

Choose a subject that interests you. Select a subject you enjoy or want to learn about. As an example for this article, we will use “Computer Tips.”

Okay, next collect the information to put in the book about “Computer Tips”. A good idea to collect tips would be to use your own knowledge, contacts, friends, online associates, family members, even neighbors.

Contact everyone you know who owns a computer; ask them to share their favorite computer tips with you. Tell them if you use their tip you will include their name in the book. After several contacts you should have acquired a stack of solid information.

Now, it’s time to start sorting the information and separating it into categories. For example beginner tips, hardware tips, software tips, online tips, troubleshooting tips. Place each category into its own file. Each of these categories will be the chapters in your book.

Next, begin composing your book on the computer. Don’t panic! It’s not that hard. Write a brief intro. Write your name and contact information, any copyright information, a brief disclaimer. Publishing date, origin of publishing.

Remember all those tips you collected. Select the best tips of the lot. Now break that down into brief chapters.

Now end the book with a pertinent ending sentence or paragraph. Your name, contact information and a link back to your website.

Now the book is ready to publish.. You’ve read everything and checked for misspelled words or obvious grammar mistakes. You are now ready to see the final result of your hard work.

If you publish online you will need an eBook creator, which could cost anywhere from $29 and up. Or you might decide to search online with Google or Yahoo for “free eBook creation software” and download.

Download the software and take it for a test drive. Follow the instructions on setting up your files and publishing.

If your eBook is less than 10 pages you might decide to call it a report. More than 10 pages would classify as an eBook.

Well, alright now. Let’s sell that book and make a profit! One good idea is to call all the people who offered you tips for your book. Price the book around $20.00 Sounds like a deal! Especially for people hungry for helpful tips from a savvy computer expert like you.

Offer all the contributors a discount on your new book. Maybe a 50 percent discount. Everyone who contributes would certainly love to have a copy with their byline (name) included. This is called ego stroking sales tactics (works for me!)

Have a website? Offer the eBook to all your website visitors. Set up a sales page advertising your book along with ordering instructions. You will want to set up a shopping cart to handle sales. Or alternatively use a service like pay pal or clickbank to handle sales without the hassle of needing a merchant account. Note: Although clickbank cost money to host your book you will attract affiliates who will eagerly sell your book. This translates to more profits.

Also, consider contacting ezine owners online. Offer them a free copy of your book in exchange for advertising space in their publication. Visit online ezine directories and search for ezines in a similar category as your book. Contact the editor with pertinent details.

It’s amazingly easy to create your very own book online. There’s no hidden secret to publishing. So called publishing guru’s want you to think they have the answers or insider secrets. For most of those on the Internet the so called secret is just a good idea and a way to reach targeted customers.

Every person reading this article has a book inside of them! Think about it. Everybody knows something about a topic that other people would pay good money to learn about. You can be sure!

So, what are you waiting for? Get Busy! Pick a topic, gather the information, and process it. You’ll be a published writer online. Others will think of you as their writer friend. You’ll be able to strut your stuff with a certain pride. Yup, I’m a writer! And place that on all your emails, letters, stationary, and business cards.

Signatures in Forum posts

By: Phil Rogers
Category: Forums

If you log on to any Internet forum, you will see that most of the regular contributors have a Signature. This is a small block of text that appears below every post they make. Occasionally, the signature consists of a simple message, or humourous quotation. But in many cases, the signature contains a hyperlink to the poster’s web-site. Make a post on a forum and you can see how many people view that post. Now make 50 posts or 100 posts and add up the number of views. The more you post, the greater the chances are that somebody will click your link and visit your site. It’s free advertising at its best. Now you can use a very clever piece of psychology; If you make a post in a forum subject that is relevant to what you are selling on your website, you can make a subtle reference to it. For example: Somebody makes a post asking how to stop his widgets from rusting. You reply with some helpful advice and then add “The widgets that I sell have stainless steel gangle-pins, so they don’t rust”. Anyone reading this may be interested in purchasing your widgets that don’t suffer from rust. They will want to know where to go to buy them. The obvious place is the link in your signature, which might read “Click here for rust-proof widgets”. Bingo! Traffic to your site. Another huge benefit of links in signature files is the fact that it is a one-way link into your website. The search engines, such as Google, scan the popular forums at least daily, and will soon pick up the link to your site. If the forum has a high page rank, it will have an influence on your site’s rank in the search engine results. If the relevancy is high (both the forum and your site refer to widgets), this will improve your rank even more. Now repeat this on all relevant forums and you may end up with some high positions in the search engine pages. Setting up a Signature. There are several different forum programs, but most of them work in a very similar way. First locate your member account settings from the forum menu. You will find a place to enter a signature. In here you can write anything as long as it doesn’t break the forum rules, but you’ll probably want to add your hyperlinks. To do this, you usually need to use what’s called BBC (Bulletin Board Codes) instead of HTML. These look very similar, but there are some subtle differences. BBC uses square brackets [ ] instead of angle brackets < > in its tags. So bold text will be enclosed by [b] and [/b]. Hyperlinks use the [url] tag. In its basic form, this will look like this: [url]http://www.yourdomain.com[/url]. However, a URL isn’t a very good sales message, so it’s better to use the alternative version: [url=http://www.yourdomain.com]Click here for rust-proof widgets[/url]. Now, the message “Click here for rust-proof widgets” will be displayed, but it will link to the site specified. This presents a better sales message to your readers while still providing a link for the search engines to find. Note that BBC doesn’t have as many tags as HTML, so formatting is more limited. To find out more about BBC, enter “bulletin board code” into your favourite search engine.

Who Uses An RSS Feed?

By: Scott Lindsay
Category: RSS

Who uses a Real Simple Syndication (RSS) feed? Maybe the better question is how many are not using RSS feeds?

Before we go any further lets talk just briefly about what RSS is and why its important. Real Simple Syndication is a process that allows individuals to subscribe to content distribution. This is not like subscribing to email marketing or an ezine. This content is custom fed to your reader and viewable when you choose to listen, watch or read the content. Thats right, the content captured by a RSS reader is not confined to text information.

Say for instance you have a podcast you like to listen to; an RSS reader can capture the podcast and download it for quick listening when youre ready.

OK, now that were past the primer, lets get back to the subject at hand.

Who uses an RSS feed?

Your average information consumer thrives on RSS information, but there may be an even more interested group of users.

Many business bloggers have very specific RSS subscriptions. If a business blog is dependent on information about a very specific trade or business discipline they can, in turn, provide their readers with some of the most up to date information available.

Their RSS reader scours the Internet looking for the specific information the business owner requests. The information received through an RSS feeder can help the business bloggers establish themselves as trusted resources for quality information.

The truth is there is a two-step marketing plan that is happening when a business blogger uses an RSS feed to find information they can use. The first step is for the original writer of the article or the producer of the audio or visual content. The RSS feed is helping them reach a very specific segment of the online population that is motivated by the material they present. The second form of marketing is when the business blogger redistributes the information. It is marketing for both the business blogger as well as the individual or organization that supplied the original story.

If you are looking for fresh content for your blog or even your website you can utilize RSS through a free article directory that can allow you quick access to the latest content from a specific writer or on a specific topic.

The growth of RSS is incredible. You might even liken the service to something like a newspaper being delivered to your reader that only feature topics youre interested in.

This can be a great resource for business as well as an incredible time saver as you can bypass multiple online searches for the same information that can be direct delivered to your RSS reader.

The work of online business is already hard enough. Thats why using an RSS reader is a component that can enable you to have more available time to work on other marketing chores and business development.

In an online world that recognizes the power in knowledge-based content RSS has become a goldmine for those interested in passing the wealth along to their customers.

Work Online, Get Paid at Home

By: Richard Lee
Category: Ecommerce

Think about your work day – about all you accomplish from the time you finally arrive, after a likely-too-long commute, to the time you walk out of the building at the end of the day. Think about communication like telephone calls and email, and the files you open and close each day. When you think about the equipment you need to accomplish your work, most of us would say first, a computer; second, a telephone; and perhaps third, a fax machine. The rest of the machinery would come after: printer, desk, Internet access, etc. For some, even web cameras and conference-calling machinery are part of every day. If you own your business, these are your lifeline.

But wait – don’t you have all (or most) of that in your home? The percentage of work that you do on your computer, and the amount of email and telephone time you spend (vs. face-to-face time), can only lead you to one conclusion. Why not work from home, online? Get paid at home! Internet access can get you to the files and sites you need, and email and instant messaging can help you communicate with those you need to contact most often, sometimes much faster than finding them in an office! Fax machine, printer and telephone can complete your work space, just like in the building you commute to every day.

If you are a firm believer that time is money – and if you own your business, you know it’s true – you probably already seek ways to use your commute time to your advantage. Audio books and seminar tapes can help you use your drive time to learn more about your business. Perhaps you even (safely) use your headset cell phone to contact clients and colleagues.

Even these tasks can’t eliminate the time lost preparing to commute and taking care of your vehicle for that ride. What about the steady stream of interruptions to your physical space? Unwanted telephone calls and drop-in cubicle neighbors can waste more time than you think.

Eliminate the problem altogether. Work online, at home. Get paid at home, too.

With some effort, you can make your home office your only office. If you own your business, think of the time and money you’ll save yourself to earn. If you work for someone else, convince them that time you spend commuting and being interrupted at your desk at work, is productive time (and money) they lose.

Working at home eliminates those interruptions and gives you ultimate control of your work environment. Take advantage of the best of both worlds – work online, get paid at home!

Dont Be Afraid of Making Money Online

By: Richard Lee
Category: Ecommerce

Are you nervous about anything involving money and the Internet, fearing identity thieves and scammers in general? Are you certain that every website is out to steal your money, your idea, or both? Do you stay away from websites that ask for even the most basic of information?

If so, you might be missing out on a great opportunity to make money. Make money, you say? How can that be, when it seems everyone on the Internet just wants to take mine? Well, you need not be afraid to make money online, if you do your homework.

First, protect your personal information – your online self, including your business website information. There are multiple means to do this. Find a professional you can trust and learn what physical means you need to protect yourself, like firewalls and virus-seeking software. Get an external hard drive to store your data. Back up everything, all the time. At worst, you only lose what you’ve done since your last backup.

Second, if you’re protected, you can stick your neck out. Risk a little – it’s the only way to know if you’ll gain or not. That means more homework – study the successes you see online and off. Decide how much risk you can handle, and try something new. Email your customers. Post a new website. Target a new age group for your sales. The only way to know is to study, and to make an educated guess.

Third, don’t be afraid that making money online, be it through sales or whatever, isn’t “OK.” As long as you are not defrauding your customers, or cheating them, you need not fear doing it the “wrong” way.

Again, do the research. Find out what you need to know to put your mind at ease about tax laws, interstate selling and shipping, etc. Arm yourself with knowledge, learn what they want, and give it to them, even if you’re not an expert in it. Work with an expert you know – or find one! There’s nothing wrong with giving people what they want, and you need not fear being the one who pounced on the idea and ran with it!

Get That Extra Money You Need Selling Online

By: Richard Lee
Category: Ecommerce

They call it Blue Monday – that day in January when we have our official post-holiday spending letdown. We all find that this time of year we need a bit of extra money for so many things – for heating bills, credit cards overstretched by the past months’ spending, more warm clothes – for some, even a vacation to a warmer climate!

Some of us need more than just a bit! We try to pinch our pennies and plan to have a little extra money each month – or at least we tell ourselves we’re doing that. We say we’ll set money aside, and then never do. It’s a vicious circle to get pulled into, and once in, difficult to escape.

If we can’t seem to save a few extra dollars per month, then the next step must be to bring some in! Few of us, though, have time and energy to put into a second job. But some people do just that because they have to in order to make ends meet. Some travel extended distances to do so, stressing even more about the travel on top of the work.

So what to do? It is possible to earn the extra money you need without extending your already too-long commute your too-frequent absences or going back to school. It’s closer than you think.

You need look no further than your computer. Your Internet connection is your window to the world – an open door through which you can earn that extra money you need.
